WASHINGTON – The PGA TOUR joined the American Gaming Association (AGA) as the newest Have A Game Plan.® Bet Responsibly. public service campaign partner to educate golf fans on responsible sports betting.
As part of the campaign, the TOUR will develop content that encourages its fans to “Know When to Lay Up” and bet responsibly. The co-branded responsible gaming content will appear on social and digital platforms along with public service announcements that will air on PGA TOUR Radio.
“A key pillar of the PGA TOUR’s sports betting strategy is responsible gaming and ensuring our fans are equipped with the appropriate resources so they are properly prepared and educated,” said Scott Warfield, VP of Gaming at the PGA TOUR. “By aligning with the American Gaming Association in support of its Have A Game Plan campaign we’re able to align our efforts and provide a consistent message focused on responsible gaming.”
The TOUR joins NASCAR and the National Hockey League (NHL) as league partners in the campaign, which focuses on the fundamentals of responsible sports betting: setting a budget and sticking to it, keeping betting social, knowing the odds, and playing with trusted, regulated operators. Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the Vegas Golden Knights have also committed inventory in support of the campaign.
“The AGA is thrilled welcome the PGA TOUR to our growing responsible sports betting campaign,” said Casey Clark, AGA Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications. “As legal sports betting continues to expand in both availability and popularity, it is imperative that responsible gaming education keeps pace. Today’s announcement is a testament to the TOUR’s thoughtful approach to sports betting and marks an important step in continuing to engage all industry stakeholders in our shared responsibility to educate fans on safely and responsibly betting on sports.”
Launched in 2019, the AGA’s Have A Game Plan campaign provides consumers with a state-by-state guide on where to find legal operators, spotlights the basics of sports betting, and raises awareness on signs of problem gambling.
This partnership is the latest in a string of progressive and industry-leading sports betting initiatives by the TOUR. Following the Supreme Court’s decision that overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 2018, the TOUR instituted a robust integrity program in collaboration with Genius Sports and later that year announced a global partnership with IMG ARENA to license its official, live scoring data to betting operators all over the world. The TOUR’s official sports betting partners include BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet, and the organization continues to evolve its innovative GolfBet partnership with The Action Network. The TOUR is also a platinum member of the National Council on Problem Gambling.

WASHINGTON – American Gaming Association (AGA) President and CEO Bill Miller released the following statement on the Nevada Legislature’s passage of Senate Bill 4:
“The AGA and our members applaud the bipartisan effort by the Nevada Legislature and Governor Sisolak to protect all businesses by limiting exposure to potential COVID-related lawsuits. This allows our members to focus on what’s most needed right now: sustained economic and community recovery.
“As the gaming industry responsibly reopens across the country, it continues to adapt in incredible ways to protect the health and safety of workers and customers. Gaming properties, led by our deep-rooted culture of compliance, continue to follow, and often exceed, government reopening guidelines nationwide.
“While we have worked diligently to safely reopen our doors and welcome our team members back to work, we remain concerned that already-suffering gaming businesses will be forced to defend against an onslaught of frivolous lawsuits. Capacity restrictions and significant safety expenditures are already taking their toll. This bill helps to mitigate the costs of burdensome litigation that will ultimately affect state and local taxes and jobs.
“But, this is truly a national crisis. It is incumbent upon Congress and the administration to follow Nevada’s leadership and enact timely, targeted, and temporary liability relief provisions to safeguard responsible actors against frivolous lawsuits. This protection is essential for businesses to continue to contribute to a safe and effective economic recovery from the pandemic.”
Background
- The AGA joined a coalition of nearly 500 business organizations in calling on Congress to promptly address the liability issue at a national level.
- To date, 850 of 990 U.S. casinos properties across 39 states have partially reopened. This includes 417 commercial casinos (89.7% of total) and 433 tribal properties (82.4% of total). The AGA’s COVID-19 casino tracker lists the reopening status of every U.S. casino.

Washington, D.C. – The American Gaming Association (AGA) board of directors elected Michael Rumbolz, Executive Chair of the Board of Everi Holdings Inc., as the association’s new chairman. He will succeed Hard Rock International Chairman and Seminole Gaming CEO Jim Allen, who has served as AGA chairman since January 2022. Rumbolz begins his two-year term in January 2024.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to help shape gaming’s future as the AGA’s next chair,” said Rumbolz. “From stopping illegal gambling to evolving responsible gambling, the AGA is tackling transformational issues and I am eager to build on the progress made during Jim’s tenure.”
Working from a busboy to the c-suite, Rumbolz’s career spans all levels and aspects of the gaming industry with experience encompassing gaming equipment manufacturing and distribution; hotel and casino operations; casino fintech; digital gaming; and gaming legislation and regulation. Rumbolz previously served as President and CEO of Everi, Member and Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and Chief Deputy Attorney General of Nevada.
“It’s an honor to welcome Mike—an industry legend in his own right—as the next AGA chairman,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller. “Mike’s career as an operator, manufacturer and regulator is unparalleled and will be vital to driving meaningful progress on industry priorities.”
During Allen’s tenure as chairman, the AGA supported the industry’s record-setting COVID recovery while working to evolve the industry’s approach to responsible gaming and launching a new effort to stop illegal gambling.
“Jim’s knowledge, insight and guidance have helped the AGA advance our mission and maximize our impact for the industry. He’s been a trusted advisor to me, and I am thankful for his partnership over the last two years,” Miller continued.
“Our industry and this association have never been stronger. I am immensely proud of our success over the last two years accelerating gaming’s recovery while defining and advancing new priorities,” said Allen. “The AGA is well-positioned under Mike and Bill’s leadership.”
The American Gaming Association (AGA) hosted state legislators, tribal gaming representatives, and local business leaders in downtown Oklahoma City, OK to review how tribal gaming has transformed the Sooner State.
The event was held in conjunction with the release of the AGA’s report, The Economic Impact of Tribal Gaming: A First-Ever State-by-State Analysis, which found that tribal gaming generates more than $33 billion in employee wages nationwide and supports 35,000 full time jobs. A second iteration of the report, released by the AGA the following year, found that those figures had increased to $36 billion and 676,000 respectively.
Regarding gaming’s impact on Oklahoma, Russell Evans, Executive Director at the Stevens C. Agee Economic Research and Policy Institute, introduced the day’s discussion by commenting, “[gaming] is a significant driver of economic activity, particularly in areas of the state where economic activity and economic opportunity is difficult to find right now.”
Tribal Gaming's 2016 Impact
U.S. Representative Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) commented that, because of gaming, Oklahoma’s tribes are his district’s largest employer. He added that “at the same time, [tribes] are filling a role in our schools that our state is not able to do right now,” detailing how tribes use funds from gaming to go beyond what is required of them by the state by funding essentials like school busses, safe roads, and back-to-school school clothes for children. He continued, “All across our state, and all across our district, because of gaming you’re seeing the [tribal] impact in our communities…I didn’t understand how much they were investing in our communities until I got in office.”
U.S. Representative Tom Cole (OK-04) endorsed Mullin’s sentiments, remarking, tribal gaming creates “real jobs for real Oklahomans, and usually in places where there weren’t jobs before.” He also noted that because the jobs are rooted in Oklahoma’s tribes, they will not be exported internationally or across state lines, meaning Oklahoma will derive the benefits of tribal reinvestment in the state “indefinitely.” Tribal gaming’s reinvestment in Oklahoma, Cole said, “strengthens every institution in the state.”
Richard Faught, Director of Sales at Orion Security Solutions, spoke to tribal gaming’s impact on Oklahoma’s small businesses, commenting, “it’s really been a blessing for us, all the business that we’ve been allowed to gather from local gaming.” Orion’s relationships with tribal casinos got the company off the ground in 2008, catalyzing its evolution into a nationwide security operation, Faught explained. He concluded by affirming that “[tribal gaming] will continue to be at the core of [Orion’s] business.”
Additional panelists included Matthew Morgan, Director of Gaming Affairs, Chickasaw Nation; Sheila Morago, Executive Director, Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association; Mark Fulton, Chief Operating Officer, Cherokee Nation Entertainment; and Geoff Freeman, president and CEO, American Gaming Association.

Today, the American Gaming Association (AGA) received the American Business Awards’ Gold Stevie Award for the best communications campaign of 2018.
“Our work with the industry to promote the social and economic benefits of legal sports betting last year paid off, and jurisdictions and consumers are now seeing the results firsthand through increased consumer protections, new tax revenue for state and local governments and dozens of private partnerships between leagues, teams and gaming companies,” said Bill Miller, AGA’s president and chief executive officer. “This distinction is a great honor, and we look forward to continuing our work to enable legal, regulated sports betting to compete with the dangerous illegal market.”
Throughout 2018, AGA worked aggressively to educate policymakers, sports stakeholders and the public about the failures of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA), and make the case for legal, regulated sports betting in the United States. AGA effectively quantified the size of the existing illegal sports betting market and the economic opportunities enabled by legal sports betting for sports leagues, states and sovereign tribal nations. The association’s amici brief was cited twice by the Supreme Court in its May 2018 ruling to overturn PASPA.
AGA has also been recognized by Association TRENDS and Sports Business Journal for its work on sports betting in 2018.
About AGA: The American Gaming Association is the premier national trade group representing the $261 billion U.S. casino industry, which supports 1.8 million jobs nationwide. AGA members include commercial and tribal casino operators, gaming suppliers and other entities affiliated with the gaming industry. It is the mission of the AGA to achieve sound policies and regulations consistent with casino gaming’s modern appeal and vast economic contributions
WASHINGTON – The American Gaming Association (AGA) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) Corporate Citizenship Center today announced the release of first-of-its-kind research analyzing the scope of the U.S. casino gaming industry’s community impact and commitment to communities, employees and customers.
Key findings from the report include:
- Gaming industry respondents reported $367 million in charitable giving last year;
- Ninety-three percent have comprehensive recycling and energy efficiency programs, 50% higher than the overall private sector;
- Sixty-nine percent have an institutionalized diversity and inclusion hiring effort;
- Gaming industry employees contribute more than 422,000 volunteer hours per year, nearly five-times more hours per employee than technology industry employees; and
- One-hundred percent of AGA member companies surveyed have a responsible gaming policy.
The research revealed that a majority of companies are committed to responsibility as an integral part of their strategic goals and that the overall success of the gaming industry depends on how well companies can support the communities they serve. The gaming industry outpaces most private sector industries in its commitment to diverting waste from landfill and instituting green building and water conservation programs. The full research is available here.
“Above all else, the gaming industry’s highest priority is to promote responsibility in all that we do, from being constructive partners in the communities where we operate, providing exceptional career opportunities to industry employees and ensuring all patrons have the tools they need to engage in our offerings in a responsible manner,” said Bill Miller, president and chief executive officer of the American Gaming Association. “Today’s report shows that the gaming industry is making good on our promise to be responsible community partners, contributing economically and socially to communities across the country.”
“While corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports continue to become standard practice among American businesses, it is rare to see the collective impact of an entire sector,” said Carolyn Cawley, president of the U.S. Chamber Foundation. “We’re proud to work with AGA to release this groundbreaking research that illustrates the gaming industry’s positive efforts in the communities they serve.”
Methodology: The Chamber Foundation analyzed the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of AGA members, including a variety of company types and sizes, through quantitative and qualitative research. In the third quarter of 2018, USCCF and AGA surveyed and interviewed 15 AGA member respondents on the scale and scope of their corporate social responsibilities. Those companies represent 168 casino properties, 235,000 U.S. employees and $33 billion in total revenue.
