Boyd Leading On Diversity And Inclusion

Boyd has reason to be proud of its record on diversity and inclusion, the result of a long-standing commitment to a workplace of equal opportunities.

A majority of Boyd Gaming’s workforce is members of minority groups, with African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asian-Americans each accounting for at least 15 percent of Boyd workers. Over half of Boyd Gaming employees (54%) are women, and nearly half of managers (49%) are women, as well, including general managers of Boyd properties. Seven of our properties are now led by women in GM positions. This commitment and dedication continues with our supply chain initiatives, as well, to increase spending with minority-owned and women-owned businesses.

As the company reports,[1] “We are proud that the face of Boyd Gaming increasingly mirrors the growing diversity of our nation. And yet we realize that we have more work to do. Through our network of property diversity committees, we will work to identify new ways to expand and enhance our diversity goals. We firmly believe our commitment to diversity makes us a stronger company. But embracing diversity is also the right thing to do, as we strive to continue the Company’s legacy of having a positive impact on the diverse communities we call home.”

Thanks to this commitment, unsurprisingly, the company also reports high levels of employee engagement and boasts many employees who have remained with the company for many years and even decades. A commitment to diversity and inclusion and a commitment to employees go hand-in-hand.

As another part of its commitment to employees, Boyd has pledged $2.5 million in support for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and its William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, to help train future generations of diverse managers and leaders.
