Advancing Sustainability
Lowering Carbon Emissions
In late 2023, Playtech submitted its science-based targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for validation and achieved formal approval in February 2024. This milestone marked the successful completion of their goal to secure SBTi approval for its near-term and net zero targets. These newly approved targets will supersede Playtech’s previous commitments to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 (location-based) carbon footprint by 40% by the end of 2025, using a 2018 baseline.
During 2024, Playtech continued to its transition to renewable electricity in the key markets where the company operates, with 58.3% of the company’s total energy consumption now coming from renewable sources.
Reducing Resource Consumption & Waste
To play their part in addressing food waste, Playtech partnered with the environmental charity, Hubbub, to launch their fourth employee engagement campaign on ‘Fighting Food Waste’, encouraging colleagues around the globe to implement changes that help combat food-related waste.
As part of this campaign, a number of employees participated in a recent ‘Sustainable Living: Let’s Get Cooking’ event. This initiative aimed to equip employees in practical ways to minimize food waste; from utilizing vegetable off-cuts, to maximizing shelf life and encouraging plant-based recipes.
In 2024, Playtech prioritized the reduction of food-related waste, emphasizing the value of sustainability across their offices. Small changes to habits like bringing in lunch from home can have a big impact on the environment and potentially lead to other long term behavioral changes.
