Applied Practical Experience Research Internship
Student-led funded research at the intersection of practical industry application and academic rigor.
The American Gaming Association invites original proposals from graduate students, Master’s level or above, to purpose research via an Applied Practical Experience Internship at the AGA focused on advancing the current research in the gambling space. This experience will allow interns to gain practical work experience while fulfilling degree seeking academic requirements.
Program Overview
The Applied Practical Experience Internship offers graduate students the opportunity to design and execute a funded, original research project within the gaming industry. Interns lead their own applied research—from concept to completion—while working closely with the AGA’s research team to ensure academic rigor and real-world relevance.

- Direct mentorship from AGA’s Director of Research, Dr. Carly Johnson.
- Exposure to national gaming policy, regulation, and industry operations.
- Experience working with real-world datasets and research tools.
- Final work product with practical industry application.
Compensation & Resources
This internship opportunity is unpaid, but interns may be reimbursed for up to a maximum of $5,000 USD to cover costs for research databases or similar resource needs.
