Senior Vice President, Strategy & Operations
Dan Bretl serves as senior vice president, strategy and operations at the American Gaming Association (AGA). He also serves as secretary and treasurer. In these roles, he oversees the AGA’s operations, strategic partnerships, business development, and shared services, including finance, human resources, and technology. His responsibilities in these areas include:
- The development and implementation of association growth strategies;
- Building member value beyond advocacy through priority member services and the development of major programs;
- Establishing partnerships with organizations outside of the casino industry that support and drive industry priorities; and
- Support of the board of directors and its committees.
Prior to joining the AGA, Bretl ran his own consultancy focused on supporting clients’ strategic planning, global partnerships, revenue, and business development objectives. He previously worked at Marriott International, most recently as vice president of strategic alliances and portfolio marketing. He led the division responsible for developing and managing global relationships in finance, technology, entertainment, sports, and other sectors. Prior to his career at Marriott, Bretl worked in brand research at General Mills on new and established brands in the Big G, Yoplait Yogurt, and Betty Crocker divisions.
Bretl currently serves as vice chair on the board of directors for the Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, holding both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
