Fantasy Sports Hearing Highlights Need for Fresh Look at Sports Betting Prohibition

Washington, DC – American Gaming Association (AGA) Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Rayme released the following statement after today’s congressional hearing on daily fantasy sports (DFS):

“While the casino gaming industry believes legal clarity and greater consumer protections are needed for daily fantasy sports, today’s hearing shined a spotlight on the thriving, $150 billion illegal sports betting market that threatens the integrity of the sports we love. It also marked a good first step in educating members of Congress about the need to revisit a 25-year-old law that is not achieving its intended result. We will continue to highlight the problem of illegal gambling, which is anything but a victimless crime and must be addressed.”
