Washington, DC –American Gaming Association Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Rayme released the following statement after the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, announcedit will begin offering a master’s degree in gaming law and regulation through its law school:

“We congratulate UNLV for recognizing the challenges of our complex industry and providing students an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the myriad regulations we face. From rules that regulate the shipping of slot machines to requirements for licensing a wide range of employees, students will quickly discover that gaming overcomes hurdles unlike any other industry in order to create jobs and provide vital revenues to communities across the country. There’s no better place for this first-of-its-kind program than Las Vegas.”

Last month, as part of its “Get to Know Gaming” campaign, the AGA released a first-of-its-kind, interactive database, called “By the Book,” that allows for easy navigation and comparisons of the nuanced and varied laws and regulations governing commercial gaming. The easy-to-use map on GamingBytheBook.org serves as a valuable tool for stakeholders, policymakers, regulators, gaming journalists and others.
