American Gaming Association Applauds Indiana’s Serious Review of Gaming Policy

    November 3, 2014

Washington, DC – American Gaming Association (AGA) President and CEO Geoff Freeman released the following statement after an Indiana legislative study committee voted to consider important policies for its gaming industry:

“While we encourage further review in certain areas, we applaud Indiana’s study committee for seriously considering important policy issues for an industry that generates vital tax revenue and supports thousands of jobs in the state. Given increased competition from surrounding states and changing consumer demands, it’s critical that policymakers and the industry work together to ensure Indiana maximizes the benefits it receives from gaming.

“In the coming weeks, the AGA will reveal a new study showing the vast economic impact the gaming industry has on the Hoosier State, and we’ll continue to push for next-generation policies that will allow Indiana’s gaming industry to reinvest, innovate and create more jobs.”

Nationwide, casino gaming in the United States is a $240 billion industry that supports 1.7 million jobs and generates $38 billion in federal, state and local taxes, according to a study by Oxford Economics released last month.
