AGA Releases First Annual Survey of Casino Entertainment

LAS VEGAS - The commercial casino industry in 1998 paid more than $2.5 billion in direct gaming tax revenues and employed more than 325,000 people with total wages of $8.7 billion, playing a key role in the economies of the 10 states where casinos were located, according to the American Gaming Association’s first annual survey of casino industry facts and public perceptions.

Industry Survey Shows Growth In Casino Gaming For 2001

WASHINGTON - An annual industry survey by the American Gaming Association (AGA) found that, despite significant challenges to the tourism and hospitality sectors in 2001, casino gaming remained one of the nation’s favorite pastimes. Casino industry revenue grew by 5 percent, and tens of millions of people visited 433 casinos in 11 states across the country last year.

WASHINGTON—Acceptability of casino gaming is at its highest level in years, with adults 21 to 39 leading the way in their acceptance of gaming as a mainstream entertainment activity and valuable contributor to the U.S. economy, according to nationwide survey results released today by the American Gaming Association (AGA).

WASHINGTON – The typical U.S. Internet gambler is under 40, college-educated, male and more affluent than his fellow citizens, according to results of a new survey of online gamblers included in the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) 2006 State of the States: The AGA Survey of Casino Entertainment. The report also includes comprehensive economic impact data on the U.S. commercial casino industry, which indicate the industry in 2005 generated more than $30 billion in gross gaming revenues for the first time ever.

New AGA Survey Shows U.S. Casino Industry Characterized by Significant Growth and High Approval Ratings

WASHINGTON—Gross gaming revenues for the U.S. commercial casino industry climbed 6.8 percent in 2006 to reach a new record of $32.42 billion, according to a survey released today by the American Gaming Association (AGA). The 2007 State of the States: The AGA Survey of Casino Entertainment also illustrates the continued high acceptability of casino gambling among American adults, with more than four in five (82 percent) saying the activity is acceptable for themselves or others.

10th Annual Survey Reveals a Period of Remarkable Growth for Commercial Casino Industry

WASHINGTON – Revenue for the U.S. commercial casino industry has increased 73 percent over the past 10 years, according to a new report released today by the American Gaming Association (AGA). The 2008 State of the States: The AGA Survey of Casino Entertainment, the 10th edition of the AGA’s survey of the commercial casino industry, reveals that gross gaming revenue reached $34.13 billion in 2007, up from $19.7 billion in 1998.

Ascent of Diversity and Performance in the New Decade

It was a decade fraught with tremendous possibilities and challenges, one marked both by tragedy and triumph. Natural disasters, volatile politics, the rise of social networking and the fall of the global economy forever changed the way people throughout the world live and work. As the Aughts came to a close, the international gaming community emerged a larger, more diverse – and also a more guarded – industry than before.
