Study Finds Casino Gaming Creates More and Better Paying Jobs than Other Industries

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Casino companies and the industries that support them paid $21 billion in wages to more than 700,000 men and women during 1995 and employ more people than the soft drink, cellular phone, video and cable TV industries, according to an Arthur Anderson study released today.

Study Reveals Positive Economic and Societal Benefits of Casino Gambling in New Jurisdictions

BILOXI, Miss. – The gaming industry has been responsible for a dramatic increase in new jobs and higher wages, especially among minorities and women, in three regions where gaming has been introduced in the last several years, according to an Arthur Andersen study released today.

Study Says No Relationship Between Gaming and Crime

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — A study released today by the American Gaming Association reveals there is no direct link between gaming and crime and that communities with casinos are equally as safe as communities without them. In many areas, according to the study, there has been no increase in crime after casinos are introduced, and in some cases, the number of crimes and crime rates actually decrease.

Link Between White-Collar Crime and Gambling Refuted

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Results of the most comprehensive examination to date of the impact of casino gaming on white-collar crime “do not support the claim that casino gaming contributes significantly to trends in embezzlement, forgery, and fraud.”

National Poll Reveals Casino Patrons "Just Like Us"

WASHINGTON - According to survey results released today by the American Gaming Association (AGA), the portrait of the modern casino patron closely mirrors the average American. In fact, the percentage of casino patrons who own their own home, have a family income greater than $60,000, and read a newspaper once a day for at least 15 minutes is slightly higher than that of the general public.

Study Shows Gaming Industry Leading the Way in Creating Employment Opportunities for Minorities

AGA Launches 10th Anniversary Research Series

WASHINGTON—In commemoration of its 10th anniversary this month, the American Gaming Association (AGA) is launching a series of research white papers that will highlight the evolution of casino gaming during the past decade and provide analysis of key issues currently facing the gaming-entertainment industry. The first paper in the series, released today, discusses the impact of gaming privilege taxes on capital investment, job creation and other economic contributions in casino host jurisdictions. Subsequent papers periodically will be released throughout the next 12 months.

WASHINGTON—The American Gaming Association (AGA) today released the fourth white paper in its 10th Anniversary Research Series, which provides an overview of the current online gambling market, explores current U.S. policies, analyzes proposed legislation and its possible impact, and ultimately suggests that a Congressional study commission is needed to properly address the issue in the United States.
