American Gaming Association Elects Board Members, Officers

WASHINGTON - At the annual meetings of its board of directors and members held this week in Las Vegas, the American Gaming Association held elections for officers and members of its board of directors, voted to expand the board, and formally approved the creation of an industrywide Diversity Task Force.

AGA Hires Hill Staffer as Republican Liaison to Capitol Hill, Federal Agencies

Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA), announced today that the association has appointed D. Brett Hale vice president of government affairs to assist in its lobbying efforts with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and the Bush administration.

Harrah's Satre Elected New AGA Chairman

WASHINGTON—The American Gaming Association (AGA), at its annual board of directors meeting this week in Las Vegas, announced the election of new officers and the nomination of new board members.

AGA Elects New Chairman, Board Members

WASHINGTON — At the annual meeting of the American Gaming Association (AGA), the board of directors elected MGM MIRAGE Chairman and CEO Terry Lanni to succeed former Harrah’s Chairman Phil Satre as chairman of the AGA. Lanni, who was elected to the AGA board in 1996, will serve a two-year term as chairman. Boyd Gaming Chairman and CEO William S. Boyd was re-elected to his post as vice chairman of the AGA.

AGA Appoints Public Affairs Executive to Direct Association's Communications Outreach Efforts

WASHINGTON — The American Gaming Association (AGA) announced today it has appointed Holly Thomsen, a public affairs executive with nearly a decade of experience providing strategic communications counsel to corporations, government and nonprofit organizations, as its new director of communications. Effective March 7, Thomsen will serve as the primary media contact for the AGA and direct the organization’s ongoing communications outreach programs.

Thomsen will replace Naomi Greer, who has served as communications director of the AGA since 1998.

AGA Hires Leading Political Professional to Strengthen Minority Outreach, Broaden Government Relations Capabilities

WASHINGTON — The American Gaming Association (AGA) announced today that it has appointed Dorothy R. Jackson, an accomplished professional with more than 15 years of political, legislative, organizational management, legal and fund-raising experience, as vice president of government affairs.

Gary Loveman Elected as Chairman of AGA Board

WASHINGTON At the December annual meeting of the American Gaming Association (AGA), the AGA board of directors elected Gary Loveman, chairman, president and CEO of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., to serve as chairman of the AGA. Loveman, who succeeds J. Terrence Lanni, president and CEO of MGM MIRAGE, began his two-year term at the beginning of this month.

The AGA also elected T. J. Matthews, chairman and CEO of International Gaming Technology (IGT), as its new vice chairman of the board. He replaces William Boyd, chairman and CEO of Boyd Gaming Corporation.

Founding AGA Board Member Bill Boyd Retires, Isle of Capri's McDowell, Boyd Gaming's Smith Join AGA Board

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Bill Boyd, gaming industry icon and executive chairman of Boyd Gaming Corporation, has stepped down from the American Gaming Association (AGA) board of directors, and Virginia McDowell, president and COO of Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. was elected the first female member of the AGA board.  Boyd remains the president of the AGA’s affiliated charity, the National Center for Responsible Gaming.

Keith Smith Elected as Chairman of AGA Board

WASHINGTON ? At the December annual meeting of the American Gaming Association (AGA), the AGA board of directors elected Keith Smith, president and CEO of Boyd Gaming Corporation, to serve as chairman of the organization. Smith, who first joined the Board in 2007 and served as AGA vice chairman for the past year, succeeds Thomas J. (T.J.) Matthews, former chairman of International Game Technology (IGT). Richard Haddrill, president, CEO and director of Bally Technologies, Inc., replaces Smith as the AGA’s new vice chairman.
