Responsible Gaming Education Week

The theme for this year's Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW) being head August 3-7,  “Know the Code,” revisits the AGA Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming on the fifth anniversary of its first implementation.  The Code of Conduct is one of the pillars of the gaming industry’s commitment to responsible gaming education and practice and serves as a guideline for the responsible gaming policies and procedures at casino properties across the country.  In essence, it is an industry pledge to employees, patrons and the public to integrate responsible gaming practices into every aspect of daily operations, including employee assistance and training, alcohol service policies, and advertising and marketing.

This year’s theme is an opportunity for gaming companies to remind employees not only about the industry’s commitment to responsible gaming, but about the specific responsible gaming programs being implemented at their company and/or property.  The AGA is working to develop suggestions for activity ideas for each day of RGEW that will help gaming properties educate employees about their own policies and available resources, with each day’s suggestions centered on a different section of the Code.    This approach will help employees gain a better understanding of how attention to responsible gaming is integrated into every level of their organization’s business.  Armed with this knowledge about their company’s commitment to responsible gaming, employees can, in turn, better articulate to customers and the public how their company is addressing this important issue.
