WASHINGTON—The American Gaming Association (AGA) is proud to announce that Tim Parrott, former CEO of Shuffle Master, Inc. and one of the foremost leaders of the gaming industry for the past 20 years, will be posthumously inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame this November during Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas.
“Tim was a savvy businessman, devoted to the entertainment industry, and he was a driving force behind the development and evolution of gaming throughout his career,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the AGA. “He brought his vibrant and creative energy to so many sectors of our business over the years and was one of the most well-liked and respected executives in the business. The AGA and the rest of the gaming industry look forward to celebrating his life and many accomplishments when we induct him into the Gaming Hall of Fame.”
During the course of his more than 20-year career, Parrott established himself as one of the gaming industry’s brightest minds. He served as chairman and CEO of Boomtown, Inc. from 1988 to 1998. After Boomtown’s 1998 merger with Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc., he served on Pinnacle’s board of directors and offered his services as a consultant. Parrott also spent time as the chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas-based production company On Stage Entertainment. In 2006, he moved to the gaming equipment manufacturing sector of the industry as president and CEO of the Americas for Aristocrat Technologies, Inc., overseeing operations in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. After leaving Aristocrat in 2008, he served as the CEO of Shuffle Master, Inc. from 2009 until his death this May.
While at Boomtown in 1995, Parrott helped to form the AGA and was a founding member of its board of directors. He was subsequently elected to the board twice more, representing both Aristocrat Technologies and Shuffle Master.
Parrott will be inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame on Wednesday, Nov. 17, during the State of the Industry keynote event at G2E and honored again that evening during the G2E Chairman’s Reception at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas at CityCenter.
Induction into the Gaming Hall of Fame is the highest honor accorded by the gaming-entertainment industry. Each year, individuals who have distinguished themselves through significant contributions to the industry receive this distinction. More than 70 people have been inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame since its inception in 1989.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) is the national trade association for the commercial casino industry. In addition to representing the interests of its members on federal legislative and regulatory issues, the AGA serves as a clearinghouse for information, develops educational and advocacy programs, and provides leadership on industry-related issues of public concern.
