Marcie Granahan, a certified association executive who has spent the past 11 years in nonprofit and association management, recently joined the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) as the organization's new executive director.
Based in Washington, D.C., Granahan will work to develop tactics for expanding the scope of research funded through the organization and to further develop NCRG's education programs. Additionally, she hopes to expand the organization's donor base and visibility in the months ahead.
"The research and funding of the NCRG are essential to identifying, preventing and treating pathological disorders stemming from gambling addiction. I am very honored to be a part of this ground-breaking undertaking," Granahan said. "I think the organization is in a wonderful position for continued growth, and I hope to work closely with the board of directors and Institute for Research on Pathological Gambling and Related Disorders to see that goal realized."
Prior to joining the NCRG, Granahan served as vice president of communications for the American Chamber of Commerce Executives. She directed all marketing and communications activities for the organization, as well as identified and generated revenue opportunities for the professional society. Granahan previously served as vice president of strategic relations for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), where she created and managed strategic partnerships, alliances and community building efforts. She also served as vice president of member resources and publishing operations director during her nearly seven years with ASAE. Her experience includes grant writing, public relations, strategic partnerships, conference planning and nonprofit management.
