The fifth annual JCM-AGA Golf Classic, organized by JCM American Corporation (JCM) in conjunction with the American Gaming Association (AGA), raised a record-breaking $75,000 for the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) in the first year the event expanded to Atlantic City, N.J.
"JCM has become an indispensable supporter of the National Center over the last five years," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the AGA. "They are leaders in this business not only for the equipment they produce but also for their contributions to issues of concern to our industry and communities."
The JCM-AGA Golf Classic in Las Vegas was held May 12 at TPC Summerlin. This sold-out tournament also included a live auction supported by nearly 25 sponsors. A foursome from MGM Grand received first prize in the tournament.
The Atlantic City tournament, co-sponsored by Cooper Levenson, Attorneys at Law, was held May 20 at the Seaview Marriott. In its inaugural year, the event garnered more than 80 players. Representatives from gaming and non-gaming companies, including tournament winner Fleet National Bank, participated in the event.
The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, Global Gaming Expo, IGT and Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada sponsored both the Las Vegas and Atlantic City tournaments. All tournament proceeds directly benefit the NCRG.
"The JCM-AGA Golf Classic serves not only to help raise the money needed to fund the NCRG's work, but also to raise awareness of problem gambling among gaming industry leaders, which is equally as important as any contribution the NCRG receives," said NCRG Chairman Dennis Eckart.
The NCRG is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to funding peer-reviewed, independent research on pathological and youth gambling.
"We are very proud to do our part in supporting the valuable work of the NCRG," said Aki Isoi, president of JCM. "We look forward to next year's event and our continued involvement in helping to raise awareness of this important organization."
