Looking for a wealth of information about gambling? Just look Down Under.
The Australian Gambling Research (AGR) program recently launched an online resource for information on Australian gambling research as well as other gambling research and information. The site's user-friendly search engine provides instantaneous access to more than 1,500 publications. The research covers a wide range of topics, from social and economic impact to addiction and responsible gaming.
The Web site also will have content relating to the organization's 2003-04 research program, which is expected to include research on problem gamblers, effective prevention strategies, national definitions of problem gambling and the future of gaming machine operations. The research team also plans to conduct a major study of problem gamblers in Australia, while addressing the impact of gambling among indigenous and rural communities.
The AGR program is a government initiative formed to investigate problem gambling through research at a national level. For more information, visit the program's Web site.
