Employees at commercial casinos nationwide wore buttons, stickers and ribbons displaying the slogan "Ask Me About Keeping it Fun" as part of a new campaign launched by the AGA during Responsible Gaming Education Week.
The campaign centered on the redesign of the AGA's flagship responsible gaming brochure, "Keeping it Fun: A Guide to Responsible Gaming." The brochure, which is based on Gambling: Choices and Guidelines, a newly updated booklet by Roger Svendsen and Tom Griffin of the Minnesota Institute of Public Health, encourages gaming patrons and employees to set personal guidelines when gambling and lists characteristics of responsible gaming.
Employees wearing the buttons, stickers and ribbons were armed with these brochures during Responsible Gaming Education Week to give to patrons asking how they can "keep it fun." Posters and table tents with the message "Are you keeping it fun?" also were displayed throughout casinos. Prior to the week, training sessions were held for employees to reinforce their understanding of responsible gaming and educate them about the points highlighted in the "Keeping it Fun" brochure.
Approximately 70,000 buttons, ribbons and stickers, along with nearly 1,000 table tents and more than 500 posters, were distributed to 10 gaming companies, including 66 casino properties in 12 states. More than 83,000 brochures are estimated to have been distributed during the week. Companies that participated in this year's campaign include Ameristar Casinos; Argosy Gaming Company; Atronic Americas; Aztar Corporation; Boyd Gaming Corporation; Harrah's Entertainment; Isle of Capri Casinos; MGM MIRAGE; Park Place Entertainment; and Station Casinos.
Responsible Gaming Education Week is part of the Responsible Gaming National Education Campaign, a long-term, comprehensive program launched by the AGA in 1998.
