An Australian administrative body rejected a workers' compensation claim that her employer discriminated against her by declining to transfer her from Melbourne to Perth, which offers fewer gaming venues. Suzanne McDougall had presented a psychiatrist's report that a transfer to Perth would facilitate treatment of her supposed gambling addiction.
A judge of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal declined to find that the worker had an "impairment in the nature of gambling addiction." The judge also found no requirement to extend more favorable treatment to Ms. McDougall, even if such an impairment had been found.
