John Romero

President
John Romero Direct Marketing

John Romero is a casino marketing consultant, writer and lecturer, and a former writer for AP, UPI and Sports Illustrated. His casino career began at the Sahara, Las Vegas, in 1960, and his direct mail writing won three Echo Awards, two gold and one silver, from the Direct Marketing Association. He developed and for 15 years directed the Sahara’s “Super Sahara Celebration,” the first large scale casino floor promotion. Later he conceived the idea of casino gaming tournaments and produced the first one in 1979.  His first book, “Casino Marketing,” pushed the casino industry into the database revolution. Then “Secrets of Casino Marketing” revealed the persuasive sales tactics he uses to find and keep casino players. He co-founded Players International, Inc., a public company that specialized in gaming, in 1986. In 2004, he became the first recipient of the Casino Marketing Conference Lifetime Achievement Award.
