Gaming tax revenue has allowed for significant improvements in casino jurisdictions nationwide.  The industry has stimulated job growth and economic development, while gaming taxes assist states in financing programs and expenditures.

QUOTES

“Thanks to casino jobs and casino taxes, the Mississippi River cotton community has emerged from what was the worst pocket of poverty in America.”

“[Riverside, Mo., Mayor Betty] Burch said the impact of gambling jobs and gambling dollars in her small community has been nothing short of ‘overwhelming.’”

Missouri riverboat cities report annually on how they spend their share of casino taxes.  This year’s list is cluttered with the usual stuff: new fire engines, new public parks, road paving projects, demolition of dangerous buildings, and contributions to civic and charitable groups.”

“Casinos here pay an estimated $11 million a month in wages to local workers.  They expend millions more on goods and services purchased from local vendors of everything from cocktail napkins and T-bone steaks to the occasional T-bird awarded as a slot machine jackpot prize.  Tell 5,100 Kansas City area residents who cash casino paychecks, or the hundreds of others who work for casino supply companies, that gambling doesn’t contribute to their household economies.”
